The Arts in Place-Making

The Arts in Place-Making

We are delighted to announce the publication of our tourism textbook Sustainable Narratives & Technologies in Tourism. We want to thank Ouistreham’s artist-in-residence, Sophie Eugène, along with the Directrice of Education & Culture for the support they gave us during our fieldwork. For my chapter 7 on Knowledge Networks, Sophie devoted valuable time to explaining her residency and her art practices, especially for her painting, L’Estuaire.  On a second visit to Ouistreham, I was able to view the painting in the town hall in the old town centre called Le Bourg.

Mark Stothard’s chapter 16 on slow tourism in our new book is also inspired by art practices in Ouistreham Riva-Bella and encourages visitors to stop over in the town and spend time exploring the culture of the place.

Teaching Resources

Most of the chapters have a PowerPoint and slide script for lecturer's to use in their own tecahing. In fact, a complete module can be created from the chapters in the book. You can preview the slide presentations as short videos on YouTube.

TRAVEL WRITING AS AN INSTRUMENT OF CULTURAL HERITAGE PROMOTION

TRAVEL WRITING AS AN INSTRUMENT OF CULTURAL HERITAGE PROMOTION This study contributes to the research literature through its approach to equipping tourism content creatives who are entering the professions of destination image communication with platform expertise alongside cooperation and co-creation leadership. Productive skills for travel writers and social media content producers in tourism are significant in the co-creation of sustainable tourist experiences since they are interactive and participative. The two purposes of this study are to implement and improve the dialogue journaling process as a re-usable methodology. The new 3-step processual research methodology is explained through a case study with stakeholders and project leaders in Brežice, Slovenia. The paper contributes to pragmatic tourism management concerns and practice by reporting findings from a real-world process project on cultural heritage that provides a re-usable solution.
