Travel Writing for Tourism Slovene Translation

Travel Writing for Tourism and City Branding: Urban Place-Writing Methodologies.

The monograph contributes to the professionalisation of travel writing. Its approach establishes a new connection between tourism and city branding, which will encourage new travel writers and bloggers to produce thoughtful, high-quality content. The book demonstrates that literary travel writing is a research process that an author–researcher can apply in spaces where value is created. This research process extracts, preserves and communicates that value, while also serving the writer as a tool for in-depth exploration of place.

Travel writing as research

Travel writing as research is presented as a methodological practice that researchers can learn and apply in their projects, both in academic contexts and in the commercial context of city branding. Examples of literary travel writing from the authors’ research projects are examined, and their effects are further analysed. The monograph contributes new insights, also by including research findings on urban spaces obtained through this new method.

Predgovor

Ta knjiga zapolnjuje to vrzel.

Mestne in druge občine ter upravljavci destinacij (DMO) iščejo nove načine za naročanje in podporo profesionalnim avtorjem vsebin v okviru projektov znamčenja krajev za turistični razvoj ter privabljanje naložb v mesta in občine. Znanstvena monografija prispeva k profesionalizaciji tega segmenta kreativne industrije. Njen pristop vzpostavlja vznemirljivo novo povezavo med turizmom in znamčenjem mest, ki bo spodbudila nove potopisce in blogerje k premišljenemu ustvarjanju visokokakovostnih vsebin.

PhD in Contemporary Travel Writing

PhD in Contemporary Travel Writing Syddansk Universitet Writing Travel in the Twenty-First Century: Mobility and Authenticity in the Planetary Emergency Travel is older than human civilization itself. Migration, trade, tourism and pilgrimage, all are forms of human movement that have existed for millennia. Yet travel is no longer what it used to be. Slow travel, flight shame, sustainable travel, eco- and anti-tourism, staycation and microadventures are but some of many recent terms testifying to a growing awareness that mobility has become inextricably intertwined with planetary concerns, regardless of whether it is the short distance of a commute to work, or that of long-distance globetrotting. With 2024 likely proving to be the hottest year on record and tourists evacuated by boat from uncontrollable forest fires on Rhodes in 2023, all the while tech billionaires promise us trips to Mars and hotels on the moon (while others perish trying to reach the Titanic), we are also told t...

TRAVEL WRITING AS AN INSTRUMENT OF CULTURAL HERITAGE PROMOTION

TRAVEL WRITING AS AN INSTRUMENT OF CULTURAL HERITAGE PROMOTION This study contributes to the research literature through its approach to equipping tourism content creatives who are entering the professions of destination image communication with platform expertise alongside cooperation and co-creation leadership. Productive skills for travel writers and social media content producers in tourism are significant in the co-creation of sustainable tourist experiences since they are interactive and participative. The two purposes of this study are to implement and improve the dialogue journaling process as a re-usable methodology. The new 3-step processual research methodology is explained through a case study with stakeholders and project leaders in Brežice, Slovenia. The paper contributes to pragmatic tourism management concerns and practice by reporting findings from a real-world process project on cultural heritage that provides a re-usable solution.
